The system we promote for this type of work is known as the “DOFF” system & is approved by English Heritage for removing algae, grime & various coatings from a variety of surfaces. It uses low pressure ultra-high temperature steam.
Our “DOFF” system produces steam at a higher temperature, also providing superior control & a more consistent delivery of steam over longer hose run, this makes it superior to other “Hot Box” options available. It certainly cuts down on our labour service costs, making it a more cost-efficient option providing outstanding results.
The ultra-hot steam quickly removes algae, moss & other unsightly organisms, whilst the steam also kills off the growth of spores, reducing the need for chemical cleaners & retarding re-growth. The use of steam allows the surface to dry quickly & is ideal for avoiding high pressure jetting, which drives water droplets into porous surfaces, causing spalling of brick masonry or stone when the water freezes in harsh winter periods. It is also used to remove some paints from historic render, brick, masonry, stone & many other surfaces.
