Paving & Walkways FAQ's

A:

Block Paving Cleaning

Work will consist of weeding and sweeping the whole area followed by the use of soapy water and a firm scrubbing. The area will then be high pressure cleaned with a rotary surface cleaner and lance attached to an industrial petrol powered pressure washer.

Sanding, Sealing and Repairing Block Paving

Sanding of the area can take place when the area is completely dry and likely to stay dry for the duration of the task. Sand is carefully brushed between all blocks followed by the use of a Wacker Plate (vibrational machine); this is done twice to ensure all gaps are adequately filled. It is then recommended that the sealant is applied as soon after as possible to ensure no unwanted dirt, moss, grass or weeds get the chance to settle or push through. Vehicles should be kept off paving for at least 24 hours after the sealant is applied (people and pets should keep off area until it is completely dry).We are also able to carry out repairs on any dips or sunken areas that block paving in particular can sometimes suffer from. By removing the blocks from the affected area, we can raise the base sand and replace the original blocks before brushing in a fresh covering of joint sand to firm up and finish the repair. We will also source and replace any broken bricks at the customer’s request.

Stone Flags Cleaning

Work will consist of weeding and sweeping the whole area followed by the use of soapy water and a firm scrubbing. The area will then be high pressure cleaned with a rotary surface cleaner and lance attached to an industrial petrol powered pressure washer.

Grouting/Pointing Stone Flags

Grouting or pointing can only take place when the area is completely dry and likely to stay dry for the near future. Some patio flags are sanded and so can be re-sanded, in which case the procedure is the same as block paving. In many cases where cement has been used between the cracks there is no need to grout or point as the original cement remains intact throughout the cleaning procedure. However, if the cement is weak or damaged, it can sometimes be blasted out by the high pressure equipment, in which case wet or dry mortar can be carefully applied to bind and strengthen the joints.

Tarmac Cleaning

Work will consist of weeding and sweeping the whole area followed by the use of soapy water and a firm scrubbing. The area will then be high pressure cleaned with a rotary surface cleaner and lance attached to an industrial petrol powered pressure washer.

Repairs, re-colouring and Sealing Tarmac

Repairs of the area can take place when the area is completely dry and likely to stay dry for the near future. It is recommended that any cracks or potholes be filled with a specialised joint repair material designed to rebind and strengthen the affected area. The paint seal is applied as soon after as possible to ensure no unwanted dirt or moss gets chance to settle. Vehicles should be kept off the tarmac for at least 24 hours after the paint seal is applied (people and pets should keep off area until it is completely dry).

Pattern Imprinted Concrete Cleaning
